Pictures of the Race

Lance is the one in black, in fifth place.

Garrett and I sat on the back fence and watched the riders race by. I was quite the neighborhood event. Everyone was sitting on there back fences with their ice teas, wine glasses and American flags. It was an amazing sight.

Tour of California

Lance Armstrong is about to pass right behind my house on the Tour of California, of Stage 5, which is from Visalia to Paso Robles. I will post pics of my ole' buddy Lance stopping by for a cup of tea!

Love.

Lily's Check-up and an Elevator

Yesterday Lily had her 4-month check-up and here are the stats:

14 pounds-56 percentile
25 inches long-85 percentile

She got four shots and woke up this morning with a 101 degree temperature, and has been a little wicked-ee (our work for fussy).

After her appointment I thought it would be lovely to take the kids to the library on a rainy day. Garrett could play with the toys and check out the fresh water aquarium, and I could pick-up a new read.

We meet a really nice grandma there with her grandson, and Garrett and him really played nicely together. It was turning out as planned...a lovely afternoon. Then we went to get in line and Garrett took off running toward the tall bookcases, while I'm in line with Lily (in her massive car seat), my fully equipped diaper bag and books in hand. So really how am I to run after him, and I can't yell out to him, I'm at a library. So, I briskly walk over the the crowds of snuggled up readers to find my son running away, again, from me while I say to myself "when I catch him, I'm going to spank his little butt".

Luckily, I run into a sweet, nonjudgmental friend, who saves me. She watches Lily so I can go run after Garrett. Then he is lost, no where to be found. I search the bathrooms, every isle, the children's area. I start to panic, heart racing, palms sweating, panic. "What if someone takes him", "What if he runs out to the street". I walk out the library to find two double doors that led to the City Hall (in the same building, just different offices), then there it was an elevator. I yell Garrett's name, and hear a small, but high pitched little voice shout back at me "Mommy, help I'm over here"....oh yes, inside the elevator, where else.

All safe, all accounted for.

It make me feel a little better today what one of my friends got kicked out of the library today for her child running around!

Valentine's Snow Day

Well Garrett woke up early on Valentine's Day, so we were off to a great start first thing. I decided to make the day a little more exciting, so we drove to Tehachapi for a little snow and family time. Here's the video that explains it all.

Lily's Rolling Over

Check out this video of Lily rolling over, three months old and already on the move! She is so proud, and so are we:)

Valentine's Party

Happy Valentine's Day! We had a little party today with some girls in my ward and it was so fun for all the kids. We let the kids decorate their own cupcakes and make Valentines. We served tomato basil soup with soft rolls for the adults.

Lily had this really cute outfit on that she got for Christmas from Meme. She looked like a little desert topping...yummy!

The kids turned the playroom upside down, and went wild around the house...it was a fabulous time!

Disneyland

Last month while Aaron was on a business trip my mom and I took Garrett and Lily to Disneyland. It was absolutely the best trip, we had so much fun. The weather was perfect and Garrett wasn't scared of any of the rides. Plus, since we went during the week, there were no lines. Buzz Light Year ride and Dumbo were his favorite rides. We did a two-day trip which included California Adventure Park, so we stayed in a hotel that was literally across the street from the park. I would highly recommend the Del Sol Inn, cheap and convienent.

Thank you Mom for the great trip!

Welcome everyone!

As you know we have been very blessed the past couple of months, with Lily Jane in our life. With this blessing came a lot of changes. One being a new blog! Although news, media and society indicate times of extreme difficulty. Life is good for the Smith family. Despite these trying times, we look forward to spending time together and enjoy what matters most. The gospel of Jesus Christ and each other.

We have been very busy in the recent months. Garrett is still attempting potty training with a major breakthrough last weekend with Mimi and Papa. Garrett is 3 and I think that pretty much says it all! He is very intelligent and always is yearning to learn more. I actually caught him reading and recognizing a couple of words. Pretty good for a three year old.

Lily is my little girl. She is growing like a weed. In January she weighed in at 14 lbs. Chunk-a-munk! She coo's and laughs all the time and is just a happy little baby. I am a proud daddy because I'm the only one that she will take a bottle from!

Sarah, what can I say, she is the most amazing mom, wife, friend, employee, and person. Although I think she tackles too much some times, she is awesome in every way. We couldn't live without her!

Lastly, I just finished a long and painful trip of 14 days. Fortunately, I won't be doing that again for a while. I was just called into the Elders Quorum presidency, which is what I needed spiritually. This is a new and exciting challenge that I really look forward too!

I hope everyone enjoys the new blog, we can't wait to see you, as always the Smith home is open!
